Empowering Global Youth Leaders: Internship Program
1. Background
The International Youth Training Centre (IYTC) strives to empower young leaders to address global and local (GLOCAL) challenges by transforming global frameworks into localised actions.
The 2025 Internship Program emphasises this GLOCAL approach, equipping youth to translate global principles into practical impacts within their communities.
This initiative aligns with:
- Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
- Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR)
- Catholic Social Teaching (CST) principles (human dignity, solidarity, and care for creation).
Practical project implementation, whether at IYTC or within interns’ home countries, ensures meaningful global and local impact.
2. Vision
To empower youth as agents of change, integrating global insights with local solutions to build sustainable, just, and peaceful communities.
3. Objectives
- Leadership Development: Train youth to be transformative leaders who connect global and local issues.
- GLOCAL Impact: Adapt global frameworks to community-level initiatives.
- Collaboration: Strengthen networks among youth leaders to foster cross-cultural understanding.
- Sustainability Advocacy: Prepare interns to develop long-term solutions aligned with SDGs.

4. Program Structure with GLOCAL Integration
Phase 1: Orientation and Thematic Immersion (2 Months)
Activities:
- Orientation on GLOCAL advocacy, SDGs, and thematic frameworks.
- Workshops on sustainability, gender equity, indigenous rights, and social enterprise.
- Case studies on impactful global-to-local projects.
Outcomes:
- Comprehensive understanding of global frameworks and local applications.
- Actionable thematic project plans.
Phase 2: Project Implementation and Community Engagement (3 Months)
Implementation Options:
- At IYTC: Collaborate on existing or new initiatives in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
- In Respective Countries: Work with local movements, IMCS Pax Romana Asia Pacific, or community organisations.
Activities:
- Conduct community-based research.
- Execute thematic projects addressing localised challenges.
- Launch advocacy campaigns using media and storytelling tools.
Outcomes:
- Tangible local impact through thematic initiatives.
- Strengthened ties between global networks and local communities.
Phase 3: Reflection, Knowledge Sharing, and Global Advocacy (1 Month)
Activities:
- Present project outcomes.
- Participate in knowledge-sharing workshops.
- Collaborate on strategies for global advocacy.
Outcomes:
- Consolidated project learnings and a roadmap for long-term GLOCAL impact.
- Enhanced advocacy networks.
